Here’s to you…Happy Birthday, Tonya!

Tonya is celebrating her 30th birthday today!  Ton is one of my very best buddies!  She and I were college roomies at JBU and we had lots of fun times!  It is because of Tonya that I love KC and The Sunshine Band so much!  And who could forget those fun nights with the girls when we would eat cheese dip and Mandy’s CHOCOLATE brownies, drink red wine and attempt to dance salsa!  It makes me laugh just thinking about it!  I could not have asked for a better roommate!  She is one of the most genuine and fun people I know!  Here are some pics from Tonya and Federico’s wedding reception after they returned from getting married in Hawaii!

It wasn’t long after this reception that they moved to Uruguay to live close to his family.  And (drum roll please…) they welcomed their first baby into the world this week!!  A BABY GIRL!  (I’ve got her stats and some new pics…see below!!)  Congratulations, Ton and Fede!!  I can’t wait to talk to you and get all the details!  Tonya, Happy Birthday to you!  It looks like you received an amazing gift!  Love you!

Isabel Ann Suarez was born September 1 at 3:11 pm.  She weighed 5.46 pounds and was 18.11 inches long.

6 Months – Solids, Sitting, Standing and So Much More!

I saw a friend of mine the other day and he asked how old Ben was.  When I told him six months he replied, “No, It can’t be…has it already been six months?!”  That is exactly how I feel about it too!  These six months have gone by so fast.  As much as I try to slow them down and hold on to each and every moment, the days just keep passing by faster and faster!  At his six month check-up Ben weighed 16 pounds 13 ounces, he’s 26 1/2 inches long and his head circumference is 16 3/4 cm.  The pediatrician said that he can feel Ben’s gum line becoming more rigid, but no teeth just yet!

Here are a few fun facts and cute things that Ben has been up to lately:

Favorite nursery rhyme:  Baa Baa Black Sheep (I first started singing this song to him when he was just a few weeks old.  I would pretend that his dog rattle was singing it to him and he still loves it!  It has also been known to calm him down when he’s crying…THANK YOU, Mother Goose!)

Favorite toys:  He loves these soft blocks that his Aunt Candice gave him.  He also enjoys “eating” his plastic books and loves anything that makes a crinkling noise.  Another favorite is his musical keyboard…it’s pretty hysterical to watch him bang on it!

Favorite things to do:  He has managed to “catch” a faux cough especially when he is super excited!  He also loves to give “kisses” now too.  Most of the time this involves opening up his mouth as wide as possible and pushing it against my cheek with as much energy as he can muster.

He’s also been doing a lot more of this:

Ben has shown a much greater interest in getting to know Dakota too!  Since Dakota doesn’t like to eat alone and Ben LOVES to watch him eat it works out perfect and gives me a few free moments…check out the clip below.

Here’s another fun clip of Ben after bath time.  He loves to pull the hooded towel down over his eyes!  As you can see, he loves reaching and grabbing for things now too!

Ah, yes, our quest to introduce solid foods continues.  The first veggie…PEAS!!

Hooray For Playing At The Park

On Labor Day afternoon we picked up some lunch and headed to the park.  This was Ben’s very first adventure at the park.  It seemed that his most favorite thing was playing on the swing while Jake held and pushed him at the same time!  (I should point out that he loved trying to EAT the swing, I know, yucky!!!)  He also had fun riding on my lap down the big purple slide!  There was a little girl playing in the same area we were in and Ben was mesmerized by everything she did…it was very cute!  It was super hot outside so afterwards we headed to Marble Slab for some yummy ice cream to help cool us off!  I’m pretty sure we wore Ben out…he was asleep in the car within minutes!  We are looking forward to our next trip to the park!  Here are some of my favorite pics from the day!
